Your messages make a difference! Let Ms. Kitchen know that you are a resident of Bloomington, and that you oppose the Waste Transfer Station, and why. Keep it short, simple, and polite. You may also send an email to Ms. Kitchen at ckitchen@idem.in.gov -- we have heard that written letters are taken more seriously. Following is a sample letter that you can personalize with your own words.

Dear Ms. Kitchen,

I oppose the Vernal Transfer and Recycling station in Bloomington, Indiana for the following reasons:

1. The proposed Vernal Pike Transfer and Recycling will receive and process 100 tons of TRASH per day and is located "IN TOWN".

2. Increased traffic, dust, noise, road trash, noxious odors, rats, risk of unhealthy emissions and polluted run-off, all will affect public HEALTH & SAFETY. This is considered a NOXIOUS or negative impact land use and WILL affect QUALITY OF LIFE.

3. The public, in open trucks with loaded trailers, as well as large semis, will be traveling on neighborhood streets that are inadequate for large vehicles, affecting the SAFETY of residents; school children, businesses, bikers, and B-line trail users.

4. Studies show property values within a one mile radius of this proposed transfer station will go down.

A residential area is no place for a Waste Transfer Station. I am writing to ask you to deny the permit.

Thank you for keeping our neighborhoods healthy,
